Major search engine shake up

Here's how it's going now.. seems that Groogle has tightened it's belt and has shed people from it's Groogle Nonsense. Bad news for all the wouldbe entrepreneurs dreaming of a fat retirement fund SPONSORed by Groogle. It ain't gonna happen buddy! I still have my gmail account and am till running the search box, but I'm definately out of the SPONSORshit game. Cancelled Terminated Deleted forever .. Groogle applied it's guideline to the letter and all the marginals will get the boot ... can Groogle really kick you off their search engines? wait and see .. if this page get's popular or get's killed will be a matter of perception from the crown king of the internet. My webdomain is still listed in the Groogle directory, but my confrere Zenwaiter has been knocked out of the directory alltogether, or so it seems. I have yet to hear from him although he posted yesterday. This is seriousSHIT !!

Somebody in California is making decisions that will change the web as we know it. It's gonna be pay as you go you can expect bottlenecks as different tiers of service wil be put into place for download and content. Cookies and other code already track your everymove. You have a Groogle toolbar ? well it's probably spying on you too. Call me paranoid but you should get rid of it.

The US governement would like to tap Groogle's database and use it to keep files on all the internet writers .. and other users.... but the blablanauts get the OPEN ME FIRST tag. then pigBrother will be able to track us all to hell, brand us as cheats subverts and maybe worse. But in Groogle's PRIVACY POLICY they claim that they will never share this information with anyone ..(not even Grod)

What do you think? has anyone reading just been cancelled by Groogle? share your story with us at Webmaster's SecretCode.

What's new on our web?

Lot's of little things to do. On a website it just never ends.
Ihave put a few new articles on Solidarité Sociale Rawdon a public service site sponsored by rawdon-qc.net. On this new CMS we feature topics on health and welfare as well as hosting a fine notfor profit local organization with a soup kitchen and clothing boutique. This is a community organization and we are proud to do our part.

We're featured on www.blogcheese.com's front page so we went in and added a few sponsors you might click them if you please. I sing and play guitar on this video. Go in and see for yourself. There are quite a few performance videos I call them that because if you don't get it right you have to start all over.

hEY!if you like these video's and there are quite a few more here at www.stvolo.com

Almost reached my first $100 mark on Google Ads

Wow I'm almost there but I don't think I'll see a check for this month I passed the 15thand I was at 98.20 just short. Did you know that it took me 9 weeks to get there so you can say I make about 10$ a week I have still to put the secret code on every page of all my sites but I have been optimizing the existing channels to blend in in with the page. I have also opened new channels and I label them with the site or page name and ad size say weather728 this helps me know where people are going and clikkin'. Make as many channels as you need there is a limit but the average site might not run out of choices but then you never know what is average. Have fun and we'll see you at the bank.

Upgrading e107.7.2

Usually these jobs scary to the newbie but after a while you get reckless and that's when the trouble starts, only kidding but on this upgrade to www.festivalcountry.com we went from the .7 CVS to 7.2 and I was faced with a problem. I downloaded the zip file and updated my test site. Then I went in folder by folder and distributed the updates to my server this took about an hour. I backed up the database onto my machine. I tried to call the admin.php and nothing. Then I realized I had overwrote the e107_config.php.
At the index level I was presented with the install so I ran it and set up a new database that I upgraded with the freshly saved download. I logged on but could only see a new installation and only 1 member. So I went back to phpMyAdmin and checked out things mucked around but to no avail. So I opened my e107_config.php and changed the database reference to the former _e1075. et voila my site was back with the new updates all it's news and all it's members ... so I charge 2 hours for that job.

e107 ... not for everyone

An installation of 7.1 took close to three hours 2.5 just to load to the clients server by cable (my new carrier). Then I edited the site entered categorys here and there. Wrote copy and set up a link structure. Tried to make it easy for the man and get him going. I even placed google ads in 2 news items built a few modules with his other site links. The client is a veteran webmaster and reporter/writer very old school as far as page design, but has a niche audience and has made upwards of 1k$ with Google Ad Sense on his best month.

Yestrerday morning he calls me up and we go through the site together. He had tried to log in under his usual alias and couldn't because I had locked and protected the names. I hadn't used this switch before and I was at best, curious. So when the client tried to log on ...well frustration. On the phone we were making headway he seemed to understand the principals. We got into the admin and I showed him how to enter news but he couldn't load an image into the system using the form. (I changed permissions on the folder to 664) Generally he was favorable to e107 he seemed to see the possibilities. The client liked the chatbox and the other modules like stats who's on et al. But later off the phone he must have become dissolusioned ... and flushed the site.
