Live video broadcasting from your webcam

I was over to mySpace lastnight and I saw an ad in the right side column for a new vLog location this time with a .ca URL blogTV.ca is the first Canadian social network destination developed for Canadians; a place for broadcasters to showcase their talents, watch recorded broadcasts, interact with the community and more. Your fans await you; do not keep them waiting! .. so I joined up and became a member ... frankly I didn't have enough guts to do more than a minute live , but I watched others do their live broadcasts and noticed other members could chat realtime with the vLogger. Unfortunately I couldn't input anything so I appeared more as a lurker .. not the best rep to get. Here are a few questions I posed to the moderation staffer

What is blogtv.ca?
blogtv.ca is an online social network for Canadian's to showcase their talents live and to interact with their fans (viewers). (See About Us for more details.)

What is the difference between Broadcasts and Shows?
On blogtv.ca, every broadcast belongs to a specific show it's been classified under. To begin broadcasting, you need to create a new show or open an existing show. Any new show that you are creating requires a name and a description of the show; this will make it easier for blogtv.ca members to find you and your show. Once you start broadcasting, you can choose to start recording at any time during your live broadcast. Each separate recorded portion of a live broadcast becomes a unique recorded broadcasts and available immediately on blogtv.ca.

What do I need to get started?
In order to watch broadcasts on blogtv.ca, the minimum requirements are Windows 98 installed on your PC. The browsers that blogtv.ca can be viewed in are Internet Explorer 6 and higher. Any model of web-enabled camera and an internet connection is all you'll need to broadcast a show. The minimum system requirements for Mac and PC are OS X and Pentium 4 respectively; either IE or Firefox web browser and you must be using the current version of the Flash Player. The PC requirement is one with the following minimum specifications: Pentium 4, 128MB Memory.

How do I protect my privacy?
Your privacy and the integrity of any information you provide are important to us. Your e-mail address is always private and is not made available to other members unless you willingly share it with them. (See our Privacy Policy for more details.)

What are the Community Forums?
This is a place where users can post and read comments by other members. You can share thoughts and ask questions that are top of mind, provide and learn cool tips and communicate privately with other members.

future of communication and it’s open to everyone, big and small.

Remodeled the Weather site using the new drag and drop modules system. Rawdon Weather Channel ..mornings at 07h00 A blog whose owner supplies local weather information twice a day and publishes the results. www.rawdon-weather.blogspot.com/ It was due for a face lift and the new system was easy hack and place php code for the banner rotation we're promoting on the web. We have a lot of ideas for the local web. Obviously we would like to be chosen as the advertising mouth piece for the community, but we need a little stimulation that goes beyond the morning cafeine buzz. This is your invitation to do something. Click Here

As you know we produce the rawdon-qc domain the dotcom and the dotnet and we do it more as a labor of love for the benefit of the people and guests of our lovely northern town. We are responsible for hosting an animated dialogue and bulletin board with around 100 active members in both french and english. Some of these writers submit posts of 300 to 400 words and are the backbone of the volunteer writing staff.

We use Blogger to host our weather channel because it's there and we like the interface and spam protection. We found out how valuable it was to our web when we saw the placement in the top ten for our keyword combination. Wow! it's like we owned the keyword rawdon take a look at the GOOGLE search done on "rawdon weather" On top is some website that pays top dollar for it's personnel and then there is the RawdonWeb ... again and again ... how do we get there?

We have got to this point by studying the www and how it works. We could say that we have paid the going price for the secret of the web when in fact all we have paid for is the hosting and our own effort.

The secret to having a successful web is to find a niche and promote it. Could be hockeycards, photography, writing, music to name just a personal few. To make it pay you need advertisers, donations, subscriptions, and a good network of webminded friends to click and promote each other's product. These people are only people I met surfing the internet. None of my network is from my real life. It is the internet that is the bond that ties us together. Our love of communication and the media allow us to pat each other on the back and trade information and technique. By banding together we can make an impact!

Rawdon-qc.com has been doing this for more than the five years required to make or break a startup. We survive because our costs are bare minimum, we survive because we are saavy and determined to make it payoff. We continue our effort because it’s what is needed in our town. It’s the future of communication and it’s open to everyone, big and small. This is your invitation to do something. Click Here

My trip to MySpace

I've been writing quite a bit about the online music communities, trying to findout all about them and I have membership in a few. Some of them could be called music promotion sites such as SOUNDCLICK and MySpace. Songwriter community SongRamp where members review and rate each other songs. Resource and sfx sites like SampleNet where you download basic sounds from their library. FREESOUND ccMixter offer up sounds and clips to mix in with your recordings all perfectly legal if you respect the creative commons agreement. Podcasters, directors and music lovers, If you're into music, browse this site to hear some of the great remixes people have built from sampling music on these site, all licensed for use under Creative Commons license.

What did you do on the last day of 2006

What does this webmaster do to keep his web together? Well it's a daily ritual make coffee check mail check the weather then maybe write two paragraphs on the weather for RAWDON WEATHER CHANNEL, and try to post before 7AM. Then it's time to check on my boards answer the posts then I do what ever jobs are in front of me. I take 15 minutes to run the dogs on the bike around M&M a few streets and a few hills. This week I have to produce a daily weather report for ZENWAITER.COM by calling up one of his sponsors and asking what kind of snowmobile trail conditions are in his area. Then write 100 words on the ZENWAITER interactive blog. When I have time I try to produce Video weather reports on Blogcheese and YouTube and tie them to the post. Usually I can do all this from 5AM to 10AM, so after that I do my "research" which I call the unpaid hours learning what I need to operate.
